GOD DID! Do You?

God wants to make a name for Himself with your life/faith

Last week I wrote on God having faith in us, and that being the reason He commits great assignments we perceive as too big into our hands. He does so in order to bring us into the knowledge of His power at work in us. We also learnt from Hebrews 11 that to walk with God on the same plane we must first of all believe that He exits.

Today, I’d like to mention that nobody has faith in anybody just like that. The one who believes must have seen a potential (that every investment will yield greatly). How, then, does this potential look like to God? Let’s consider the story of one of God’s friends and some more to buttress the point.

He was a man who caught the eye of God, chosen to lead His people. He had all it took and God was ready to give him His best support. The Lord expressed the faith He always had in a Hebrew fugitive and revealed Himself at the burning bush to Moses and commissioned him.

(If you aren't familiar with the story of Moses you can read about him from Exodus chapter 2 onward.)

Moses was a man full of humility, trust, obedience, loyalty and Love. He never spoke against the Lord nor bowed to any idol. He had all the potentials and more! Yet an event in Numbers 20 caught my attention.

The Israelites came to a new camp and in that place there was no water. They complained to Moses and he took it to the Lord. God then gave him an instruction to pick up the stick that was in front of the covenant box and command the rock for water to come out of it. But when Moses stood in front of the rock before the Israelites he struck the rock twice.

Moses disobeyed the Lord. Yet that wasn't what he was called out for. The Lord reprimanded him for lack of faith! And because of that he didn't get to enter the promise land.

But wait, lack of faith?? Really? Moses!? If everyone lacked faith, Moses certainly would be an exception if you ask me. Deuteronomy says of him, "No other prophet has been able to do the great and terrifying things that Moses did in the sight of all Israel" (GNT). That guy had faith! Period.

But why didn't the Lord let this slip-up slide?

Here’s what the Lord said to Moses after that incident, "Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them” (GNT). Can you hear the passion? The Lord was counting on the faith of Moses to reveal Himself to the Israelites.

God had faith in Moses, just as He does in you. But the question remains, will you continue to have faith in Him? Even as the going gets tough, will you keep the faith?

It’s not impossible. I know that because I’ve read of those who kept the faith. Let’s consider Mary, the most blessed among women. Her struggles are rarely highlighted. I’d love to write on it someday, but today I’d go over it briefly. I want to remind you that she didn’t live the fanciest life: she got pregnant by a Spirit, her fiance almost left her, she had her first child in a farm! She had every reason to check and doubt her faith with every step, yet she kept her faith. She pondered on prophecies and at last, there was a performance (for she believed).

Another man who kept the faith was Apt. Paul. That guy went through what we call hell these days, yet rejoiced and thrived. What a man!

Let’s return back to Hebrews 11. It says, "No one can please God without faith..." (GNT). I am growing in the realization that we’re to live each waking moment in faith, because only then will our hearts really be in tune with God’s. And that’s the intimacy He seeks. That is the potential that flourishes in His hands.

So, help us God to keep the faith regardless.

Remember you can clap up to 50 times! Also highlight the parts that resonate with you, I’d love to know. Kindly share as well, I’m super thankful.
